Privacy
The short version: your answers, results and history stay on your device. Collared counts a few things anonymously, like how many tests get finished, but nothing that could say who you are.
Who runs Collared
Collared is run by Ellie Grey, as an individual, in the UK. To get in touch, see the contact page.
What stays on your device
These are kept in your browser’s storage and never sent anywhere:
- Your answers to every statement, and your test progress. Answers are kept with each result so “Why?” can show what made a score, but they’re never put in share links.
- Your curious list, yes/maybe/no list, aftercare card and scene plan.
- Your results and your history.
- Your answer to the age check.
- The scores in a share link. They sit after the
#in the link, and browsers never send that part to a server.
Anyone who uses your device could see them, unless you turn on the PIN lock in Settings, which encrypts them on your device. Clearing your browser’s data for Collared deletes them.
What Collared counts
To see whether the site is doing well, Collared counts these, with no cookies and no ID of any kind:
- Which pages are viewed, whether on a phone, tablet or PC, and which country (worked out by Cloudflare, not stored with anything else).
- On the first page of a visit, the name of the site you came from, like discord.com.
- Tests started and finished, quick or full, which packs were ticked, and whether you got a quarter, half or three quarters of the way.
- When a share link is copied, a badge downloaded, a compare run, the Discord button clicked, or Collared installed to a home screen.
- Your top role, only if the totals box on your results is ticked. It’s ticked to start, and nothing is sent until you leave the results page, so unticking it first means it’s never sent. Only the role’s name goes, nothing else from your results.
Each count is stored as the day, the hour and what happened. Your IP address is never written down, nothing is saved on your device for this, and your answers are never sent. Counts are deleted after 400 days. If your browser is set to ask sites not to track you (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track), Collared counts nothing at all.
Collared has a legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used, so it can be improved. The top role is only counted with your say-so, through the totals box.
What anyone else sees
- Loading the pages. Like any website, your browser asks the host for each page, so the host sees your IP address and browser type to send it. Collared doesn’t keep them.
- Share links. Whoever you send a link to can see what’s in it (your results, or your whole aftercare card or scene plan), and it can’t be taken back once it’s sent. A yes/maybe/no link only shows the other person what you both like, but it holds your whole list, so someone techy could read all of it.
- Discord. The Join button on the Discord page takes you to Discord, and Discord’s own privacy policy applies there.
- Emailing Ellie. If you email, Ellie gets your email address and whatever you write, in her Gmail, so Google’s privacy policy applies to it too. It’s only used to reply to you.
Who else is involved
Cloudflare delivers the site. While Collared is being tested, it runs on Ellie’s own server at DigitalOcean and reaches you through Cloudflare, and the counts above are kept there. No ads, no tracking cookies, no outside analytics companies, and no AI reads anything.
Cookies
None. Collared only uses your device’s storage for the age check, your progress and your history, so there’s nothing to accept.
Your rights
Collared doesn’t hold anything that could be linked to you, so there’s nothing to ask for or delete on our side. The one exception is an email you send Ellie: ask her to delete it and she will. Everything on your device can be removed with Delete all on the History page, or by clearing Collared’s data in your browser. If you’re unhappy with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Age
Collared is only for adults, 18 and over.
Changes
If Collared ever starts counting anything new, this page will say exactly what and why before it starts. Last updated 5 Nov 2026.
