Before a scene, talk through:

• What you both want, and what you don't
• Limits, hard and soft
• Safewords and signals
• Any health stuff: injuries, allergies, medication, mental health
• Whether there'll be marks, and where
• What aftercare you'll need

It feels unsexy at first. It quickly becomes part of the fun.
